This is another great way to practice sight words, spelling word, or any kind of material. The students can do this individually or as pods. The teacher or the other student would call out the word and he or she would have to drive their car and park it on the correct word! Also, to change it up it could be used a reading activity and vocabulary words can be used. For example when the car parks on a certain word, the student will have to define the word to park the car!

Literacy Activity: Identifying Letters
This is a great alphabet matching game. You can use worksheets, blank paper or anything you have available at the time. Place any letter on the sheet and a picture for representation and language development. Then, have the students move the clip to the same letter but the lower case letter. This helps the students see the uppercase, lower case, and a representation of the letter. This is great for visual learners!

Literacy Activity: Roll a Word
This is another great way to practice sight words. Sight words are words that students see all the time, but they need practice. Rolling a die (from the dollar store) can give the students practice and it allows for some fun! The students can roll the dice and then pronounce the word, spell it, or give an example of how it is used (depending on the age).

Reading Activities
Above are two great ways to practice phonemic awareness and phonics! The first activity or game is Rolls, Spell, & Cover! This is an interactive way that allows students to roll a dice, and then depending on the number they must choose the correct word, spell the word, and then cover it! This is interactive, and creative! There are many different games that can be used incorporating dice which also helps with the learning of numbers. The second activity is the french fry stop. Using McDonald's french fry containers and yellow sticks (any type), you can have a creative game for your students to practice their skills. The students have to place the fry, which has a word written on it, in the correct holder! This is one of my favorites, it is interactive and useful to a child when materials they know are incorporated.
